Volunteer with The La Di Da Society!
Who are the La Di Da Society?
The La Di Da Society runs glitzy daytime cabaret events for people over the age of 60, with the aim of reducing social isolation and loneliness. At each event, 200 guests receive afternoon tea and get to watch live performances from 3 professional cabaret artistes. The events are full of laughter, dancing and joy where everyone leaves smiling! Volunteering at The La Di Da Society is a lot of fun! The existing team is warm, friendly and often socialises together outside of our events.
Duties include setting up the room, laying tables, welcoming guests, serving afternoon tea, interacting with guests, dancing (optional!), clearing up, washing up on a rota basis and packing everything away after the event. As well as carrying out your volunteer role on the day, you will also get to watch 3 cabaret performances in between service duties. These range from drag queens, opera singers, hula hoopers, burlesque, dancers, singers and more! We provide brunch, afternoon tea, hot drinks and bubbly to all volunteers and any dietary requirement can be catered for.
Our guests really enjoy getting to know our volunteers and it is very rewarding to see them having a great time during the event. For many of the older people who come to our events, it is the only social event they attend on a regular basis and for some, the only time they get out of the house. The dress code is smart/glamorous black and white, flat shoes are recommended! We can adjust volunteer duties to meet any access needs and the venue is fully accessible.

We are looking for volunteers of all ages to come and help run our monthly daytime cabaret events for people over the age of 60. We welcome volunteers to the team however many events they can commit to per year. Shift times can be flexible if needed with a slightly later start of early finish, but all volunteers need to be available for the event briefing at 10.30am on the day.
