Who are the Girls’ Network?

The Girls' Network is a national charity that works with schools and colleges to provide mentoring to 14-19 year old girls. The aim is to help them develop skills and confidence, and to open up opportunities and experiences across sectors that they may otherwise not have access to. Our mission is to inspire and empower girls from the least advantaged communities by connecting them with a network of professional female role models.

Who do they need?

We are looking for women who: Are professionals with at least 3 years experience working in an industry Have the passion to make a difference to a younger girl's life, supporting her to overcome obstacles and seize opportunities Have the time and willingness to support a girl from the least advantaged communities Able to relate well to others Are good at working through problems Are able to provide insight from your personal experiences.

When do they need you?

We offer both short and long term mentoring opportunities; The group mentoring programmes are usually a commitment of one hour per week over 4 weeks. These take place during school hours and each mentor will work with a small group of approx. 5 girls. The sessions are facilitated by a member of staff from The Girls' Network. The year long mentoring programme will be a commitment of 1 hour per month for 10 months, (not including travelling time). Sessions take place outside of school hours so that girls can attend. They may be scheduled for afternoons Mon - Fri 3.30pm/4pm onwards and Saturdays 9am - 1pm. Further information can be provided on application.

What do they need you for?

We offer two mentoring programmes:

Group Mentoring Programme: The aim of the programme is to give girls a condensed mentoring experience to help them build confidence and aspirations. This is a commitment of 1 hour per week for 4 weeks. The sessions take place during school hours and mentors will work with approx 5 girls each. The programme is facilitated by a member of staff from The Girls' Network.

Year Long Mentoring Programme: Mentors are matched with one mentee and commit to a 10 x one hour monthly sessions. The sessions take place after school from 3.30pm onwards or on a Saturday from 9am - 1pm. Benefits of being a mentor: Intensive training session to prepare you to be the best possible mentor.
