Secrets Worth Screening : Hollywood Representations of Child Sexual Abuse

Thursday 23rd May 2024
7:00 pm
PLATF9RM HOVE, Ground Floor Church Road Hove Town Hall BN3 3BQ
Secrets Worth Sharing

Hosted by Secrets Worth Sharing at PLATF9RM Hove.

***NOTE*** Secrets Worth Sharing will not be showing explicit and graphic depictions of sexual violence. A majority of the scenes will be around the way child sexual abuse is talked about and responded to. Any more graphic depictions will be mentioned before each scene is shown.

A survivor-activist and a film-theorist/therapist review scenes of child sexual abuse in films.
Part one is a history in western cinema, including scenes from High Society (1956), Lolita (1962), Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992). We strongly recommend that you watch Lolita and Fire Walk with Me before the event. Snacks will be included in the ticket price.

This event is hosted by Secrets Worth Sharing, a podcast, video and event platform encouraging conversations around childhood sexual abuse with ‘serious joy’.

Please arrive on time as we will be discussing child sexual abuse and want to create a comfortable and disruption-free environment for everyone.
