Amidst the challenges posed by homelessness and the relentless rise in the cost of living, it’s essential to spotlight the unsung heroes who embody the spirit of compassion. Knight Support, a radiant beacon of benevolence in Brighton, serves as a testament to the profound transformative power of empathy and unity within our community.

At its heart, Knight Support’s story is one of unwavering compassion, resilience, and recovery. Lynne Knight’s journey began amidst a personal crisis, leading her to a point of despair. Faced with the harrowing possibility of homelessness for her family and feeling adrift without support, she reached a pivotal crossroads.

Yet, it was within the darkest depths of her life that Lynne discovered the lifeline she needed. Her road to recovery became a radiant lighthouse, not only illuminating her own path but also becoming a source of inspiration for countless others navigating similar challenges. Out of this journey emerged Knight Support.

Today, a small volunteer-led team dedicate their spare time to gathering essential supplies, clothing, and food for Brighton’s homeless population. What began as a modest act of kindness by Lynne has blossomed into a dedicated team of volunteers working in collaboration with Brighton & Hove City Council and other local charities — a steadfast pillar of support for the city.

Central to Knight Support’s mission is its Homeless Outreach Service, a source of optimism that operates every Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the Hove Peace Statue in Brighton. This service extends vital essentials such as clothing, toiletries, nutrition, and comfort to the homeless community, sometimes helping over 100 service users a week, delivering not only material assistance but also a profound sense of understanding and kindness.

However, Knight Support’s impact extends well beyond these crucial services. These volunteers share a common aspiration – they want to make a tangible and lasting difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. The team diligently coordinates, processes, and delivers donations on behalf of other day centres and charitable organisations throughout the city; wholeheartedly committed to expanding their services, they tirelessly work to broaden their reach and provide support to those most in need.

In the words of Lynne Knight herself, “I get to see the priceless help so many people have for our Homeless friends. We have a team of truly inspirational people who give and devote their time to making a difference to homeless people in Brighton and Hove.”

Knight Support stands as a living testament to the resilience of the human spirit and underscores the profound impact that one person’s journey, coupled with boundless compassion, can have on an entire city. In Brighton, they are a symbol of care, kindness, and an unwavering belief in the possibility of a brighter tomorrow.
